Sarah Giles

Biography

Sarah Giles was born in Todmorden, West Yorkshire in the dark days of 1979. Educated at Crossley Heath School, Halifax and then on to study painting and drawing at Todmorden College where she gained a HND in 2003. A B.A. in Fine Art at Bradford College of Art was the natural next step in 2005 where she extended her exploration of paint and print. The subsequent sell out Degree show confirmed the emergence of an exciting new talent. Since graduating Sarah has been working full pelt on a completely new body of work but has found time to become Cartwright Hall in Bradford’s very first ‘Hockney Fellow’ as part of the city’s major retrospective of David Hockney’s work in 2006.

Recently Sarah Giles has been awarded the second Joan Day Bursary for emerging painters and is finalising the details for her first solo exhibition at the South Square Gallery, Bradford.
